About AirIndoors
AirIndoors tracks what it costs to fix the air in a room — and what each machine actually does.
Every summer now, an alert names a product. Smoke drifts in from a fire two states away and the health department says *run an air purifier if you have one*. A heat advisory sends people looking for a window unit the same afternoon. A flooded basement sends them to dehumidifiers. Most buying advice for these appliances is written once and left to rot, and prices on them move constantly — a purifier or a portable air conditioner can swing a hundred dollars between the day the advice was written and the day you need it.
AirIndoors does something narrower and, we think, more useful. We track the published price of every product we cover, every day, and we keep the history. When we say a unit is at a good price, we can show you the last ninety days and let you decide whether we're right.
We pair that with the manufacturer's own published specifications — clean-air delivery rate, room coverage, cooling capacity, pints per day, decibels, filter cost, energy rating — normalized into tables you can actually compare across brands, which the brands themselves make deliberately difficult.
What we don't do
We don't run a lab. We haven't measured a purifier's output with a particle counter or a heater's draw with a meter. When you read a coverage or capacity figure here, it is the manufacturer's rating or an arithmetic estimate from published numbers, and we say which. If you want instrumented testing, there are people who do that well and we'll link to them.
We don't give health advice. When a public authority advises running a purifier during a smoke event, we quote the authority. What a machine does to a room's air is a specification; what it does for your lungs is a question for your doctor.

Pages are published under a single pen name for AirIndoors' editorial desk. The site is published by Pangea Immersive LLC. Pen name, real accountability: corrections and questions reach a human at the address on our contact page, and we answer them.
More on where the numbers come from is on our methodology page, and how we're paid is on how we make money.
